Angela Peña, a longtime resident of Washington Heights, New York City, passed away peacefully at her home on July 12, 2024; at the age of 92. She was born in Bani, Dominican Republic on May 7, 1932, daughter of the late Manuel Peña and Isabel Peña Brea. Angela immigrated to the United States in the early 1960s; she settled into Washington Heights and made it her home.
Angela worked for many years as a book distributor for Bookazine in New York, NY, until she retired. She will be remembered for her love of cooking & shopping; she enjoyed watching old movies and her novelas. Angela is survived by her three children, Jose Manuel Moreta, Gregorio Enrique Moreta Jr., and Aida Elvira Moreta; her devoted friends and caretakers, Gregorio Moreta Sr., Juana Montero, Altagracia Milagros Minyety, and Teodora Jesús Garcia y Maria De Jesús; her two nieces, Isabel Victoria and Virginia Pimentel. She is also survived by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended family & friends.
Along with her parents, Angela was predeceased by her sisters and brother: Betty Ivelisse Peña, Liliana A. Victoria Peña, Obdulio Manuel Peña.
Her Family will gather to honor of her Life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 19, 2024, 11:00AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon, NY, followed by burial to St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon, New York.
