Anthony Mark Brown, known to family and friends as; Tony, Mr. Brown, Pop Brown and even “the Mayor”, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away on February 1, 2024 at the Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie; at the age of 64. He was born in Yonkers, NY on January 26, 1960, son of Arvenia (Jackson) Brown, and the late James D. Brown.
Tony proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978-1982, earning multiple decorations to include Meritorious Mast for service that was incontestably exceptional and of the magnitude that clearly placed him above his peers; upon completion of his service he was honorably discharged and continued to uphold Marine Corps values throughout the duration of his life.
On January 17, 1980, he married high school sweetheart, Patricia Renee Lawrence, who survives at home.
He was employed for several years at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare Facility, Castle Point Campus within the Facilities Management department where he served and worked alongside his fellow Veterans. Later, he would transition to logistics support with C&S Wholesalers, from where he would ultimately retire.
Mr. Brown had a great love of music and all things science-fiction (Sci-Fi); he was an avid fan of Star Trek, and visited television talk shows regularly as an active audience member. He loved family barbecues, taking tremendous pride behind the scenes grilling it up for friends and other members of the community. His love for animals and gentle nature made him the perfect friend for any wildlife he would encounter.
Along with his wife of 44 years and his mother, Tony is survived by his five children: Chína (Talvin) Payne, Cerrone (Aimeé) Brown, Demora (Wayne) Jones, Shaniqua Brown and Lamarr (Hope) Brown; his ten grandchildren: Tajh, Jordan, Mason, Adrian, Gianna, Symphony, Aria, Lyra, Jah’Ziah and Prince. He is also survived by his two brothers, Michael and Christopher Brown, and an abundance of nieces(grand), nephews(grand), cousins & friends.
His Family will gather with Friends to Remember & Honor Mr. Brown’s Life on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 AM to 12 NOON, where Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard.
