Charles B. Secore, a lifelong Beacon resident, recent years of Wappingers Falls, passed away on May 27, 2024 at the Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh; at the age of 94 years old. He was born in Beacon, NY on November 14, 1929, son of the late Charles H. & Bertha (Rogers) Secore.
On July 26, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, he married Jane Edgar, who predeceased him after 62 years of marriage.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 and received an honorable discharge for his service.
Charles worked for many years in manufacturing as a pressman at the Nabisco Plant in Beacon, and later he was a foreman at the Federal Paper Board until he retired. He also worked in law enforcement, part-time for the Village of Fishkill Police and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy.
Charles enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and camping, being at his cabin. He was an avid reader, and mostly loved being around his family.
Charles is survived by his son, Glenn Secore and his wife Rebecca; his daughter Cynthia Yalanis and her husband Phillip. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren: Phillip Yalanis Jr., Danielle Brooks, Lauren Secore, Andrew Secore; and 1 great-granddaughter Kara Yalanis.
Along with his parents and beloved wife, Charles was also sadly predeceased by his son Christopher Secore.
