On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Damian Ann Frankfurter, loving wife and mother of three, passed away at age sixty-two after a long battle with ALS. Damian was a dietician and homemaker, and after reentering the workforce, she found her true calling in working with special needs preschoolers. Damian had profound love for not only her own children, grandchild, niece, and nephew, but also for her students who gave her the endearing name of “Miss Damin.”
Damian’s life motto was to “see the potential in everything” which emanated through her unbridled creativity and craftsmanship of knitting, painting, gardening, and cooking. She loved sitting in her garden and feeding and watching the birds who would come and sit on her feet or arms when sitting in the front yard.
Damian was fondly known for innocently misremembering words and phrases (e.g. Outhouse Steakhouse) and being terrible with directions, but mostly for her fierce determination and strong spirit. She had a stubborn streak a mile wide that she would never let anyone or anything dictate the decisions in her life, including ALS. She encourages everyone to live life “fearlessly”.
She is survived by her husband, Benno, and their children, David, Alisa, and Michael and her grandson Todd. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the The ALS Association- Greater New York Chapter.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the LIBBY FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, Beacon, New York. To offer a message of condolence or share a fond memory, please visit: www.LibbyFuneralHome.com
