Elsie Eugenia (Newsome) Colden, a long time resident of Kingston, NY, departed this life on November 16th, 2012 at Kingston Hospital. She was born on January 1, 1925 in Portsmouth, VA. She was the daughter of the late Moses and Rachel (Peebles) Newsome. She graduated from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, VA. Elsie was a long time member of Riverview Missionary Baptist Church, serving for 55+ years. She served faithfully on the Pastors Aide and Building Fund Ministry. Elsie was employed for over 25 years at Rotron, Inc., in Woodstock, NY as well as being a family care provider for Hudson River Psychiatric, Center. She was the wife of Charles A. Colden who predeceased her. Survivors include four children: Lecreatia W. Forrest of NY, Franz Colden of NY, Kathleen Haynes of GA, Denise Colden of NY, 13 grandchildren: Rachell B. Smith, Eric Haynesworth, Franz Colden II, Karimah D. Colden, Francois Colden, Jamal Stevenson, Shakara Dorsey, Naida Stevenson, Derrick Burton, Amani Stevenson, Tia Burton, Akia Stevenson, Jasmine Haynes, 13 great grandchildren: Rashon, Oral Jr., Shawn, Kesherica, Joshuah, Chania, Derrick, Trevor, Leon, Mya, Marlon, Ayelen, Mateo, and one great grandchild on the way: Iman Elsie Dunbar Elsie was predeceased by her two brothers, Edgar Newsome of Portsmouth, VA and Robert Peebles of Kingston, NY, and a grandson Robert Smith, Jr. of Kingston, NY. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Pointe Of Praise Family Life Center, 243 Hurley Ave., Kingston, at 11:00 am Funeral Services will be held.
