Elvira Ayala, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away September 7, 2023 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Beacon; at the age of 77. She was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on January 25, 1946, daughter of the late Margarita Ildefonso. She came from Puerto Rico to the States when she was 16-years old.
She was a hardworking woman, she worked various manufacturing jobs, including at Beacon Looms Factory in Beacon. She also loved being a hairdresser, for her family & friends, and whoever needed.
Elvira had a very charming personality, to anyone she came in contact. She was also well-loved by her housing family at Davies Terrace Apartments in Beacon; affectionately she was known as ‘Momma D’, she was a matriarch for many. She loved singing, dancing, and cooking; anything to get together with family, she truly loved.
Elvira is survived by her four children: Angelo Deleon, Damaris Deleon, Samuel Dandrade his wife Victoria, Christopher Dandrade his wife Kelly; her 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters Maria Rivera and Norma Rivera, several nieces, nephews & a host of extended family and friends.
Her Family will receive Friends on Tuesday, September 12th from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am, Wednesday, September 13th St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon, followed by interment to St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Street, Beacon.
