Libby, Harrison S. of Beacon, entered into rest Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at The Pines, Poughkeepsie. He was 79. Born July 10, 1936, in Queens, NY he was the son of the late George H. and Jessie Smith Libby. Harrison was a retired NYS Licensed Funeral Director and the former owner of Libby Funeral Home, Inc., Beacon. He was a member of the Beacon Elks, The Exchange Club, Board Of Directors of The Salvation Army, Past President of the Kiwanis Club, Dutchess Putnam & Ulster Funeral Director’s Association, National Funeral Director’s Association, Beacon Sloop Club, American Legion and the Beacon VFW. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, served as an MP and was extremely patriotic. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Beacon and sponsored various youth sports programs. July 16, 1960 in Syracuse, NY he married Cynthia Nalton Libby, who survives him at home. In addition to his wife survivors include: his daughter Sue Libby Van Ness and her husband Charlie, of Summerville, SC., his three granddaughters, Amy, Mallory and Libby Van Ness, three cousin’s, Marjorie Johnston of Long Island, Rev. Robert Libby of Florida and Ethel Morris of SC, his sister in law, Sue Ring and her husband Bob of Clarkston, MI., his niece Molly and her husband Mike Pattison and their children, his nephew Jont Kingsepp and his wife Ellen and their children. He was predeceased by his son Thomas N. Libby, his grandson Sean Libby Van Ness, his nephew Christopher Kingsepp and his sister-in-law Patricia Nalton. Visitation will be held Friday, November 6, 2015 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, November 7 at 11:00 AM at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. Rev. Dr. Edwin Cromey will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will take place Monday November 9, at 12:00 noon at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY. A procession will form at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. at 9:00 AM. In lieu of, flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimers Assoc., Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corp., Wounded Warrior’s Project or to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Beacon.
