Harry Kirshen, 96, of Lynnfield MA, former 60 year resident of Beacon NY , entered into rest Saturday, March 26, 2011 in West Peabody, MA. Born August 20, 1914 in Malden, MA, he was the son of the late Bernard and Rose Bickoff Kirshen. In Brooklyn, NY, August 9, 1942 he married Sylvia Steinhauer, Mrs. Kirshen, a longtime Texaco employee, predeceased him on January 17, 2006. Mr. Kirshen started M&H Dept. Store, Beacon, with Milton Bernstein in 1946, he had also worked many years for Rosenbloom Shoe's and later for Schulman's Army Navy Store, Beacon. He served in the U.S. Army During WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Mr. Kirshen was a member of Beacon Hebrew Alliance, Jewish War Veterans Post 625, Poughkeepsie, NY and a life member of the B.P.O.Elks, Beacon. Survivors include his daughter Ellen and her husband Walter Creedon of Wakefield, MA, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gloria and Irving Klenetsky of Brooklyn, NY and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Morris, Sam & Max Kirshen. Funeral services will take place Monday, March 28, at 12 Noon at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. Ellen Pearson-Gersh will officiate. Interment will follow in Beacon Hebrew Alliance Cemetery, Fishkill, NY.
