Hector Luis Caraballo-Torres, formerly of The Bronx, recently of Wappingers Falls, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 28, 2024 at his home; at the age of 75. He was born on May 19, 1949 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, son of Angela (Torres) Baez and the late Jacinto Caraballo. Hector was raised in Morovis, Puerto Rico, he attended school in Puerto Rico, until the 10-grade, when he was drafted to the United States Army.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; serving from 1969 to 1971, even in the reserves. While in the service he received the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. On completion of his service, he received an honorable discharge as a Specialist E-4.
Hector worked for many years in New York City; he managed the auxiliary services at the G&R Parking Garage in Manhattan. He was part of the Local Union 272.
He enjoyed sports, particularly basketball, UFC and boxing. He also enjoyed food, and spending time with other war veterans reminiscing of their times in service.
Hector is survived by his loving wife of 35-years, Emily Rodriguez; his daughter Emily Caraballo and her spouse Lindsay. He is also survived by his belove mother, Angela Baez; his brother David Baez and his sister Evelyn Baez.
His Family will receive Friends on Sunday, September 1, 2024 from 3-7PM at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM, Monday, September 2nd at the St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon, NY. Interment will be Tuesday, September 3rd at the Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd., Riverhead, NY; where military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard.
