Isabelle T. Berner, a life-long Beacon resident, passed peacefully from this life on March 27, 2022 at her home in Beacon, NY; she was 102 years young. She was born in New York, NY on December 6, 1919, daughter of the late Anthony & Josephine (nee Briglia) DeGrazia.
Her beloved husband, Bernard Berner, predeceased her after 70-years of marriage on May 12, 2012.
Isabelle was a devoted & much loved wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even a great-great-grandmother. During the 1960s and 70s, she owned & operated the Kaleidoscope Dress Shop in Beacon for 10-years.
Isabelle was a fine artist, an avid painter; always loved creating new masterpieces. She was a woman before her times, speaking out in her community for what was right and against wrongs. Isabelle always made a friend with everyone she met, never uttering a bad word of anyone; she was always there helping others. She will be remembered for being a loving, kind, gentle woman, who was loved by all her family, friends, neighbors, and her animals!
Isabelle is survived by her two daughters and one son: Patricia Barth, Anita Donofrio and her husband Nicholas, Joseph Berner and his wife Karen. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Nicholas Hockler, Terry Hockler, Michael Donofrio, Nicole Donofrio, Jason Berner and Valerie Berner and her five great-grandchildren & five great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband of 70-years of marriage, Isabelle is also predeceased by her two sisters and one brother: Gloria DeGrazia, Camilla Bila and Joseph DeGrazia.
As per Isabelle’s wishes there will be no services, a private cremation will take place then an interment at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA; where Isabelle will be laid to rest next to her husband. In lieu of services and flowers, the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to the ARF Animal Rescue Foundation https://www.arfbeacon.org or Americares https://www.americares.org
