Joan Marie (Baltich) Serino, a lifelong Beacon resident, passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Joan was 84 years old; she was born on October 22,1939 in Cold Spring NY, daughter of the late Nora and Michael Baltich. Joan married Michael A. Serino on October 22,1959 in Beacon, NY where they resided with their 3 children.
Joan graduated from the Haldane School District in Cold Spring NY, where she was active in Girls Basketball and Cheerleading. She went on to working as a waitress after graduating, before starting a career at United Reproduction as a secretary; then onto housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Fishkill for 16 years.
Joan is survived by her 3 loving children: JeanMarie Serino of Fishkill; Carmine (Patricia) Serino of Beacon; Michele Serino-Rios of Beacon. Her grandchildren Alexandra and Emma Rios, Michael and Jenna Serino. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many close family friends.
Joan was predeceased by sister and best friend Helen Killmer, and 3 brothers Danny, Alex “Baldy” and George.
Joan was the most selfless and kind person to everyone she met. To know her was to love her. Joan had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. She enjoyed her love of feeding “her” birds and squirrels daily. Joan’s greatest joy was her 4 grandchildren who she has made memories that will last a lifetime. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Her Family will receive Friends on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4-8pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, where a Service will be offered 7PM. A Private Cremation will follow, and interment will be on Saturday, December 9 at 10AM at St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon.
