John Patrick Norton, a lifelong Dutchess County resident rejoined his loving wife of 24 years when he peacefully passed away at his home in Beacon, NY on January 4, 2024, at the age of 74. He was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on April 3, 1949, to Jeremiah & Ellen (Mulholland) Norton. He married his best friend Nancy J. Denton on September 18th, 1976 at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Poughkeepsie.
John graduated from Marist College with a degree in business. He worked for many years for the Hachette Filipacchi Publishing Company in New York, NY until he retired.
John enjoyed off-Broadway theater, which he found the love for at Spellman in the Bronx, NY. For many decades he loved managing the lighting and stage design for the many shows that were preformed, during which he developed life-long friendships. John also adored spending as much time as possible with his children and grandsons and was always their biggest supporter.
Surviving John are Kelly and her husband, Edward Brandt (Woodstock, NY); son Adam and his wife, Kristin Norton (Orlando, FL); daughter Ellen Norton (Olympia, WA); his two grandsons Connor Hughes and William Norton, and grand-dog, Finn. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Norton, 3 nephews, and 2 nieces. John is predeceased by his wife, Nancy.
His family will receive family & friends on Friday, January 12th from 10am to 12pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, NY, where a Funeral Service will be offered 12 Noon and followed by interment to St. Peter’s Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
