Fishkill, NY Palmer, John A. Jr. of Fishkill, NY entered into rest Tuesday September 20, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, NY he was 88. Born October 2, 1922 in Beacon, NY he was the son of the late John A. Sr. and Stella Mackey Palmer. John was a member of the Teamsters Union Local # 707 Poughkeepsie, the Masonic Lodge, Wappingers Falls, VFW Post 1286, Fishkill, and an honorary member of Slater Chemical, Glenham. John was an Army Air Corp. WWII Veteran serving as a Heavy Equipment Engineer in the Aviation Battalion in the China Burma India Theatre. Survivors include his long time companion Stacy Makris of Fishkill, his four children, William (Ruth) Palmer of New Paltz, Kenneth Palmer of Fishkill, Lorraine (Jeff) McCulay of Poughkeepsie, and Lawrence (Judy) Palmer of Hyde Park, as well as five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a son John A. Palmer, III Visitation will be held Friday September 23 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. followed by services at 7:30 at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. Father John Angel will officiate A graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The VFW Post 1286, Fishkill, NY.
