John ‘Jack’ P. Catalano Jr., 57, a life-long Beacon resident, passed away on November 1, 2021 at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. He was born in Cold Spring, NY on August 27, 1964, son of Sharon (Lepore) Lee and the late John P. Catalano Sr.. Jackie was a graduate of Beacon High School class of 1982; he played football and was on the wresting team in high school. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United State Air Force from 1983-1986; both State-side and in Italy.
He then attended the inaugural culinary program at Disney World in Florida; his photo was used on the recruitment pamphlet worldwide. He worked as a chef in many local restaurants until 1991 when he was injured in an accident becoming a quadriplegic. He was self sufficient and mentored many other paralyzed veterans, and worked for the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.
Jackie was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed operating his own screen printing business for 15-years, he called it ‘T-Top Graphx’
Along with his mother Sharon Lee, Jackie is survived by his brother Jay (Tracey) Catalano, his sister Jennifer (Rob) Howard; his nephews Cory and Nick Catalano, Zachary Hackbart, Jack Howard; his nieces Kailyn Hackbart, Rebecca and Madison DeLeo; and a host of aunts, uncles & cousins.
Along with his father John P. Catalano Sr., Jackie was predeceased by both grandparents Joseph & Harriet Catalano, and Michael & Hazel Lepore.
There will be no-visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10am, Saturday, November 20th at St. Joachim Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon, followed by interment & military honors at Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, NY. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, NY
