Joseph Arquilla

August 21, 1921 — September 16, 2011

Arquilla, Joseph A., a lifelong Beacon resident, entered into rest Friday, September 16, 2011 at Vassar Bos. Medical Center, Poughkeepsie, he was 90 years old. Born August 21, 1921 in Beacon, he was the son of the late Valentine and Anna Pomerico Arquilla. On June 6, 1954 in Croton-On-Hudson, NY he married Jean Luposello, Mrs. Arquilla survives at home. Joseph retired after 45 years with IBM, Poughkeepsie as a Foreman in Material Handling. He was a member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, Beacon, as well as Mase Hook & Ladder, Beacon. He was a former member of the Beacon Auxiliary Police and Chandler Drum Corp.. Joseph was a U.S. Army Air Corp. WWII Veteran serving as a Tech Sergeant and Aerial Engineer in the China, Burma, India Theatre. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by his brother and sister Augustine, and Geraldine Arquilla of Beacon, as well as, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two sisters Mary Fischer, and Anna Penzetta and his brother Vincent Arquilla. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 21 at 10:30 am at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church 51 Leonard St. Beacon. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Augustine’s Cemetery, Ossining, NY.
