Joseph E. Powers, a longtime Beacon resident, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, entered into rest on June 11, 2024, at his home. He was 94. He was born on August 22, 1929, in Elmira, NY, son of the late Michael and Anna (Malloy) Powers.  Joseph was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill, NY.

Joseph E. Powers is survived by his children, Lisa Powers of Beacon, Michael Powers of Cohoes, Christopher (Christine) Powers of Highland, Kevin (Anya) Powers of Newburgh, his sister Fran Monroe of Elmira, one grandson, Kyle Joseph Palmer, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Maria D. Powers, his sister Betty and his brother Michael (Maryjo) Powers.  

Joseph's outgoing and hard-working personality led him to pursue a variety of professions throughout his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In addition, Joseph had a long career as a corrections officer, serving for 32 years, and worked in the medical field. In his free time, he was an avid fan of New York sports teams, including the NY Rangers, NY Giants, and NY Yankees.

His Family will gather with Friends on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, followed by interment and military honors at the St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon, New York. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Dr. #200 New Windsor, NY 12553. Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph J.
