Lawrence 'Lonnie' T. Wilkins

Lawrence T. Wilkins, a longtime resident of Glenham, NY, passed away at his home on February 9, 2022; he was 80 years old. Affectionately known by his family & friends as ‘Lonnie’. He was born on February 5, 1942 in the Bronx, NY, son of the late Walter & Madeline (Ernst) Wilkins.

Lonnie was an extremely active Life-Member of the Slater Chemical Fire Company of Glenham, NY. He served as past-Lieutenant and served as Captain of the Fire Police. Lonnie was a passionate about his firematic service and helping his community.

He worked for over 30-years as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Yonkers, NY, until retiring. He later worked as a salesperson at N & S Supply in Fishkill, NY.

Lonnie is survived by his wife, Barbara C. (Massena) Wilkins; and his 3 sisters and 1 brother: Peggy Wasserlein, Cecelia Caragine, Nancy Wilkins and Tommy Wilkins. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and his firehouse friends & brothers.

His Family & Friends will gather on Sunday, February 13th from 3-7PM at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 1PM, Monday, February 14th at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, followed by a private cremation.
