She was born on February 3, 1935, in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late William and Lillian (Smith) Brennan Cadmus. Lenore attended Beacon Schools and after High School began a long career in nursing. As a practical nurse Lenore worked for many families in the Poughkeepsie area taking care of their loved ones. Lenore was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. She also excelled at crafting including sewing and needlework. Making clothes for her granddaughter’s dolls gave her great joy. Lenore’s life was made complete by the myriad of animals she adopted over the years with Duke as her final companion.
After her retirement Lenore began a new career at St. Francis Hospital in security. Lenore eventually moved to her vacation home in Roscoe NY full time with her Husband Arthur (Pete) Petersen. Together they expanded on Lenore’s love of crafting and opened a small gift shop. Together they crafted doll furniture and doll clothing, tended their goats and made homemade cheese. Her green thumb was always in evidence by the bounty of her annual garden. Lenore never met a sick plant she could not bring back to life. Still wanting to help families in their time of need Lenore became a Hospice Volunteer.
