Levisa Mae Lunsford, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 at the Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, NY; at the age of 84. She was born in Alamance County, North Carolina on August 22, 1939, daughter of the late Jack Williamson and Marjorie (Covington) Williamson.

On April 16, 1960 in Beacon, New York, by Rev. Mattie Cooper; she married Samuel Linwood Lunsford III, who predeceased her after 56-years of marriage on November 7, 2016.

Levisa was a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church in Beacon; where she served on several committees. She was an usher, and a Mother of the Church. Along with her sister Mary Lou, they founded the ‘Seniors feeding Seniors’ program.

She worked many years as a home health aide, working last for ‘Any-Time Home Care Service’ in Poughkeepsie, NY, until she retired.

Levisa is survived by her 4 children: Mark Lunsford, Alesia Lunsford, Alane Lunsford and Jack (Jamie) Lunsford; her 19 grandchildren: Jacquan, Alyssa, Brenna, Iyleea, Jaedyn, Laquan, Rev Michael (Michelle) Bell, Malcolm (Arielle), Stephon, Mark, Lamarr, Alexia (Lance), Marcus, Monica, Markel, Adina, Hasan, Samuel IV, Danielle (Antwon) and Seaford Brown. She is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces & nephews.

Levisa is also survived by her 7 brothers & sisters: Mary Lou Williamson, Martha Williamson, Sheila Bush, Paul Sellers, Michael Sellers, Ricardo Sellers, Bonita Sellers, Lessie Wright.

Along with her parents and husband, Levisa was predeceased by her son Samuel Linwood Lunsford IV; her 2 sisters, Gloria McNair and Priscilla Sellers; her brother James ‘Skinner’ Williamson.

Her Family & Friends will gather to remember her Life on Thursday, August 15th from 11am to 12pm at the Springfield Baptist Church, 8 Mattie Cooper Square, Beacon, NY 12508, where a Home-Going Service will be offered at 12 NOON.
