Margaret A. Ireland, ‘Peggy’, a life-long Cold Spring resident, recent years of Beacon and Wappingers Falls, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2024; at the age of 92 years old. She was born in Cold Spring, NY on July 11, 1931, daughter of the late Emerson James & Alice Louise (Myatt) Pierce. Peggy attended and graduated from Haldane Central School District.
In 1950 in Cold Spring, NY, she married the late Charles H. Ireland, who predeceased her after 38-years of marriage.
Peggy was a production supervisor at the Fairgate Rule Company in Cold Spring, NY for many years; prior to that she worked at Sonatone in Cold Spring.
She was a former member of the Cold Spring Baptist Church in Cold Spring, NY.
Upon retirement she took up being a Sam’s Club Greeter at the store in Fishkill, NY. She also enjoyed going to yard sales, ballroom dancing, reading, and attending the St. John’s Seniors and the ‘Gadabouts’ traveling group in Beacon. She also enjoyed an evening of bingo with friends or a good laugh with the girls. Peggy knew how to enjoy life's simplest pleasures.
Peggy is survived by three children: Charlene Raymond, Charles W. (Leslie) Ireland, and Colleen A. (Wayne) Karabinos. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, Peggy was predeceased by her brother William Pierce.
