Marilyn "Midge" Arlene May, 84, of Nederland passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, surrounded by her family.
Midge was born on November 16, 1939, exactly two minutes before her identical twin sister Carolyn, to Margie Evelyn Way and Vernon E. Way in Beacon, New York. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1957 and on May 30, 1964, she married her husband John E. May. They moved to Texas in 1966.
Midge was an Enrolled Agent with H & R Block and retired after many years of dedicated service; her office was housed directly next door to her sister-in-law, Elaine and the two worked side by side for most of their careers.
Her greatest treasure was her family. She was a doting wife to her husband, John. She adored her brothers and sisters, and their children. Aunt Midge was a constant source of guidance, love, and fun for her nieces and nephews. Through the years, she was not only aunt to her nieces and nephews, but also to their friends, and to her great nieces and nephews, and kept a stock of licorice in her kitchen drawer just in case they stopped for a visit.
She enjoyed nothing more than hosting her family and friends in her home; there was always a puzzle or a board game on her table and a hot cup of coffee and conversation in her kitchen. She was also Aunt Midge to every four-legged creature that she met and welcomed every pet into her home with great affection.
She is survived by her brother, John Way of Beacon, New York, sister, Carolyn Sneyd of Austin, Texas, sister Rhonda Wroblewski of Poughkeepsie, New York, nephews, Michael O'Connor (Sharon), Richard Way, Jr., John Way II, and nieces Maureen Varnado (Randy) and Angela Fanette (Darin), and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. May, who she was married to for 45 years, her mother, Margie Evelyn Way and father, Vernon E. Way, brother, Richard Way, Sr. and nephew, Joseph Angelo Way. Her beloved dogs Beau and Chan will be reunited with her as well.
