Marisol Rivera

Marisol Rivera, a longtime Poughkeepsie resident, passed away on September 25, 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY; at the age of 44. She was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 9, 1979, daughter of Nilsa (Velez) Gallagher and the late Nelson Rivera.

She was so proud to receive a degree in Culinary Arts. Marisol worked various jobs; she was a family caregiver as a home health aide. She had that nurturing sense. She also loved to sing, and loved to cook… Her Family will never forget her belting out songs and whipping up her famous mac & cheese.

Along with her loving mother Nilsa Gallagher, Marisol is survived by her brothers & sisters: William Rivera, Madeline Ivette Rivera, Oneida Rivera, Nelson Rivera Jr., and Nayely Rivera.

Her two nieces, five nephews, five great-nieces & four great-nephews, all whom she loved dearly like her own children, along with a host of godchildren. She is also survived by two foster-children Gordo and Chuchi, and one uncle, several aunts, cousins & friends.

Her Family & Friends will gather to remember her on Saturday, September 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, where family & friends are invited to share the fun memories that they will hold dear of Marisol.
