Fishkill, NY; formerly of Beacon

Maryann E. Boonstra, a lifelong Beacon resident, recently of Fishkill, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024; at the age of 85. She was born in Beacon, NY on July 27, 1939, daughter of the late Nicholas A. & Mary (nee Pavlica) Boonstra. She attended Beacon City Schools and graduated from Beacon High School, class of 1958.

Maryann was a devout Catholic; recent years she was a communicant of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where she participated in the parish’s ‘Praying Hands Knitting Group’ which would knit and bless various shawls, blankets & comforting items for people going through difficult times. She also was a former communicant of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, where again she participated in various parish activities.

Maryann was a devout and active member for over 45-years of the St. Fidelis Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order of Beacon.

Along with her parents, Nicholas and Mary Boonstra, Maryann was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward J. Boonstra on September 20, 1981 and Nicholas J. Boonstra on June 16, 2012; also her sister-in-law Mary R. Boonstra on May 26, 2006.

Maryann is survived by several friends and neighbors; it brings great comfort to everyone that she is now reunited with her family whom she so loved, and missed dearly. She will be remembered for her devout Catholic faith, that she lived out.

Her Friends will gather to honor her Life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 10:00AM, at the St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, New York. She will be laid to rest amidst her family in the St. Joachim Cemetery, 325 Washington Avenue, Beacon, New York, following the Mass.
