Nelson Ocasio, Sr.

Nelson Ocasio, Sr., a longtime Beacon and Fishkill resident, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024 at his home in Fishkill, NY; at the age of 89. He was born in San Germán, Puerto Rico on September 22, 1934, son of the late Telesforo Ocasio and Margarita Vega.

On March 4, 1978 at St. Jerome Church in The Bronx, NY, he married Ana Cecilia Acosta, who survived him at home.

Nelson owned and operated his own butchery, The Butcher Man in Newburgh, NY; he ran for 29-years, until he retired.

He had a loved for animals, horses in particular which he owned and raised, and also dogs. Nelson was a true family-man, loved his family dearly.

Along with his beloved wife 46-years of marriage, Nelson is survived by his 6-children, his 6-grandchildren & 2-great grandchildren. He was the youngest of 18-children, all whom have predeceased him.

His Family will gather with Friends for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be held 10am, Monday, July 1, 2024 at the St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 Willow Street, Beacon, followed by interment to the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, New York.
