Raymond Gonzalez, affectionately known as ‘Jimmy Ray’, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2023 at the Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Beacon in Beacon, New York; he was 84-years old.
Raymond was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 21, 1938, son of the late Maria Pacheco and Ramon Gonzalez. He attended schools in Manhattan, NY, and enlisted in the United States Marines in 1955.
Jimmy Ray performed as Jimmy Estrella with his trio band. He was known for his beautiful romantic songs in Spanish. Jimmy performed with greats like Tito Rodriguez. While pursuing his creative passion, he held several jobs. One of his favorite memories is selling beer on the beaches in the Summer.
Along with his stepdaughter, Debbie, Ray is survived by his brother Ralph, and sisters Josephine, Aida, and Yolanda and his children Sandra, James, Jessica, and Rebecca.
Ray was predeceased by his brother Robert, and his sisters Anna, Irma, Socorro and his wife, Dolores.
A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on the end of March where he resided in West Shokan, New York. Details will be sent out soon....
