Rebecca Dancy also known as Becky, was born on November 21,1927 to Isaac Scott and Martha Ann Smith in Philadelphia PA. The family later moved to Harlem, NY; where Becky attended school but left school at an early age to work as a vending machine attendant. She did this for quite some time then the company closed down and Becky went to work for a book binding company where she later met and married Roland L. Dancy and they had one child, Roland M. Dancy (Jr.). Some of her favorite things to do were dancing, laughing and taking pictures. She really loved taking pictures with her nephew Ron D, she would give up one of her biggest smiles. Becky loved a good song that got her feet to tapping and good conversation or a good joke that would make her laugh until the tears were rolling down her face. Becky is pre-deceased by her 3 sisters, Rachel, (who was her favorite dance partner)Margie (her travel partner) and Lizzy who she lovingly says that grandmama spoiled the most. She was the last of her generation and lived a long and happy life. She was 92 years young. Becky leaves to mourn her one and only son, Roland; Her nieces: Patricia, Martha, Mamie and Brenda; Her nephews: Obie, Joseph, Rodney and George. As well as a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. And a whole bunch more family members that loved her dearly. Roland called her Mama, and to the rest of us she was Aunt Becky and cousin Becky and she will surely be missed. Sleep in Peace Rebecca Dancy. Her Family will gather on Saturday, September 12th from 2-4pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, where a service will be held; interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
