Shirley Wigren

Wigren, Shirley Shirley Macdonald Wigren died Thursday, June 16 at Wingate @ Beacon Nursing Home. She was born March 26, 1916, the only child of Edward Patrick Macdonald and Bertha Kuck Macdonald of Grymes Hill, Staten Island. She attended and graduated from Wagner College in 1941. After retiring from a career as an elementary school teacher, she spent many happy years in various towns along the Hudson River, buying old houses and decorating them with curtains or pillows made from her extensive collection of fabrics. She had a distinctive personal style. Shirley is survived by her four children: Britta Voss of Nyack NY, Jon Wigren of Providence RI, Beth Savage of Atlanta GA and Meg Oakes of Beacon NY, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
