Teresa Corey

Corey, Teresa L, of Beacon, NY, formerly of Peekskill entered into rest Friday March, 23, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center Poughkeepsie, NY. She was 87. Born March 4, 1925 in Tilly Foster, NY. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose Pettito DiPont. On June 7, 1945 in Peekskill, she married John A. Corey, who preceded her in death June 7, 2006. Teresa was a devoted Girl Scout Leader, and acted as a Neighborhood Chairman for many years. She was very admired by all the other leaders as well as the children. When her children were school age she was very involved in chaperoning class trips, and was a class mother. She loved nature, she was a great cook, and baked the worlds best apple pie. A very important part of her life was square dancing, and she was a member of the Tarry Squares, Montrose. Survivors include three daughters; Sandy Corey Freyer and her husband Que of Hopewell Junction, Althea Corey of Beacon, and Francine Corey of North Salem, NY, two grandchildren; Stacey MacStravic, and Christopher MacStravic and his wife Laura, four great grandchildren; Sabrina, Liam, Danielle, and Aislinn. She was pre-deceased by John DiPont. A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday March 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY. A Memorial Service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Glen Stubbs Officiating.
