Bowles, Theodore G. of Beacon entered into rest, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center. He was 96. Born May 18, 1920 in Beacon, NY, he was the son of the late George Bowles and and Mary E. Woody Shelton. Theodore was the widower of the late Anna May Cobbs Bowles. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and a retired Diesel Mechanic for Wappingers Central School District, 1st African American Commander of American Legion Post 203 in Beacon for many years, a life member of VFW, Beacon, as well as a member of St. James AME Zion Church Beacon. Survivors include: his three children, James T. McBee of Sewell, NJ, Theodore C. Bowles of Plattsburgh, NY and Dawna Bowles of Fishkill, NY, 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great great grand-daughter. He was predeceased by his daughter Ellen W. Grayson and his son Reginald M. Bowles. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at St. James AME Zion Church 23 Academy St. Beacon, where, at 10:00 AM Services will take place. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, NY.
