Vanessa A. Reed

Vanessa A. Reed, a life-long Beacon resident, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2024 with her granddaughter Lacole by her bedside at the The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at River Valley in Poughkeepsie, NY; she was 70 years old. She was born in Beacon, NY on August 26, 1953, daughter of the late David Bugg and Jean (Johnson) Talley. Vanessa attended Beacon City Schools, and graduate in 1972.

On July 25, 1970, she married David Reed, who predeceased her on March 28,1994.

Early on in her life, she worked as a printer at the Tuck Tape Manufacturing Plant in Beacon. Vanessa was a former member of the Springfield Baptist Church in Beacon, where she was an usher and even was recognized by “The Adult Ushers Ministry” for always going above and beyond the call of duty. She often enjoyed music, food, shopping, and loved elephants and would collect memorabilia.

Vanessa is survived by her son David Reed, and a host of grandchildren & great-grandchildren, particularly her granddaughter Lacole Reed, who was her caregiver for the last several years. She is also survived by 9 sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces & nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Vanessa was predeceased by 1 brother, 1 sister, and 1 grandson.

Her Family & Friends will gather on Thursday, February 22 from 5-9pm at the LIBBY FUNERAL HOME, 55 Teller Avenue, Beacon, New York; followed by a private cremation.
