Vendel Bender

Bender, Vendel, of Cohoes, NY, a former longtime resident of Beacon, entered into rest Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, he was 89. Born January 25, 1923 in Almaskamaras, Hungary, he was the son of the late Sebastian and Sabina Riess Bender. On September 23, 1950 in Germany he married Eva Ziegelbauer, Mrs. Bender pre deceased him on December 3, 2011. Vendel was a retired Printer for Great Eastern Printing, Poughkeepsie, NY, as well as a member of St. Joachim’s Church Beacon. Survivors include three daughters Elizabeth Bender of CA, Jean and her husband Scott Del Porte of NH and Joan Bender and her husband Ken Lattrell of Howe’s Cave, NY, a brother Joseph Bender of PA, and a sister Teresa Hammer of Hungary, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, April 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY, where at 6:30 p.m. services will take place. Rev. Marty Cartmell will officiate.
