William R. Hamilton

William R. Hamilton, 78, a life-long Beacon resident passed away peacefully at his home on February 15, 2021. He was born in Beacon, NY on October 23, 1942 son of the late Robert Douglas Hamilton and Martha Catherine (nee Helman) Hamilton. Bill graduated from Beacon High School. He was a member of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Beacon. Bill worked as a wine & liquor store owner in Beacon; he owned McGovern's Wine & Liquor and later the Beacon Wine Shoppe until he retired. His longtime business partner was Thomas ‘Skip' Skipwith; he remained a dear friend. On June 28, 1987 in Hopewell Junction, NY, he married Lena G. Cline, who survives him at home. Bill was an avid golfer, and a member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club. He also enjoyed travelling, movies & reading. Along with his love for golf, he was a die-hard NY Giants fan. Along with wife of 33-years of marriage Lena Hamilton, he is survived by his 3 step-daughters: Deborah (Scott) Kacur, Suzanne Griffith and Pamela (Fred) Duffus; his 7 grandchildren Kayla, Kimberly, Emily, Britney, Michael, Knox & Axel; and his 3 great grandchildren Addison, Aubrey, and Damien. He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Hamilton and her partner Janice Cummings. Due to the current pandemic occurrence, a private funeral memorial mass will be held at a later date in the St. Andrew-St. Luke Episcopal Church, 15 South Avenue, Beacon.
