Yvonne (Johnson) Nevius

A devoted wife, mother, grand-mother, great grand-mother, and great-great grand mother and all around loving lady, Mrs. Yvonne ‘Sissy’ Nevius, 78 of Fayetteville, GA went home to be with the Lord on March 28, 2019 at Amicasa Hospice Home Care, Decatur, GA. Sissy was born on October 14, 1940 in Beacon, NY she was the second oldest of four children born to the late Frank Johnson and Jeanette Marie Johnson (Harris). Yvonne "Sissy" was born and raised in Beacon, NY and only been living in Fayetteville, GA for the last 5 years. She attended Beacon public schools and attended Mercy college to further her education to obtain her CDA credentials. She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church up until her move to GA. Yvonne ‘Sissy’ worked over 33 yrs in the Beacon School District and at Astor Head Start. She retired in 2003. She loved teaching and taught half of the kids in Beacon including their kids and their kid’s kids. Yvonne ‘Sissy’ had a great impact on every child she came in contact with in her tenure as an educator. Her students remembered her way into their adulthood. Yvonne "Sissy" loved to cook and she put her foot in every dish she made. She loved to sew and was very artistic and crafty. Sissy was a wedding planner, caterer and created flower arrangements. She was an entrepreneur when it wasn’t even popular. She was a jack of all trades and a master of all. Everybody loved her sweet potato pies. Patti Labelle pies didn't have anything on her. Yvonne is survived by her husband Harold Nevius and leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory her 5 remaining children: Minister Veronica Eggleston of Irving, TX; Harold Wade (Pam) of Beacon, NY; Dwayne Wade (Denise) of Albany, NY; Sandra Mitchell (Sharif) of Fayetteville, GA and Sonia Bellamy (Tarrence) of Covington, GA and Lorraine Townsend who considered Yvonne as a second mother. 20 grand children; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandsons, 1 sister Yvette Wade of Beacon, NY; 2 brothers Frank Johnson of PA and Pete Johnson of Newburgh, NY; 4 sisters-in-law Delores Foxx of NC, Irene Murdock of New Brunswick, NJ, Denise Wade of Elizabeth, NJ and Gerald Wade of Bound Brook, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Frank Johnson and Jeanette Marie Johnson (Harris); grandson Lord Born Devine Johnson-Campbell and daughter Jeanette Marie Johnson; 2 brothers-in-law Carl Wade and Ronald Wade
