George Moraitis

Moraitis, George S. of Beacon entered into rest Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Cortlandt Manor Healthcare, Cortlandt, NY. He was 79 years young. Born February 25, 1934, in Peekskill, NY, he was the son of the late Stathe and Beatrice Conklin Moraitis. George proudly served in the U.S. Navy, he retired from Wappingers Central School District as a Bus Driver, and was a driver for A & E Bus Company. He was a life member of Beacon Engine Co. #1 and a member of The Beacon V.F.W. His hobbies include taking long scenic drives with his loving wife Helen, he loved driving school buses with all of the kids, enjoyed his family card games, he was an avid hunter and most of all he loved his grandchildren. He was a true family man. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Helen Moraitis, his two daughters, Dawn Marie and her husband Glenn Colella, and Debra and her husband John Cherubini, his grandchildren, Rachel, Michelle, Salvatore Jr., Steven, Kristen and Damon, his brothers and sisters, Louis Moraitis and his wife Martha of Poughkeepsie, Christina Stone of Clinton Corners, Demetria and her husband Eugene Brown of Illinois and Mary Mericle of Beacon, his brother and sister in law Louis and Darlene Mazzacone of Beacon, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Billy Moraitis and his two sisters Anna Weaver and Frances Mericle. A Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, January 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Libby Funeral Home, Inc. 55 Teller Ave. Beacon, NY, where, at 8:00 pm memorial services will take place.
