Marilyn 'Millie' Arlene Lunsford

Marilyn Arlene Lunsford, a lifelong Beacon resident, was called to rest peacefully on June 9, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Montefiore St Luke’s-Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY; at the age of 81 years old.

Marilyn better known as, “Millie”, was born on November 24, 1940, in Brockway, New York, to the late Samuel L. and Martha A. (Barksdale) Lunsford.  Marilyn attended Beacon City School District.  She was a loving mother to ALL children, not just her own. She was a homemaker, caregiver, and a dry-cleaning assistant. In addition, Marilyn was known for her Friday Night home cooked meals.

Marilyn had six children, Curtis and Margaret Lunsford, Kelly Smith, Sherry & Leon Chin, the late William Chinnis, Tammy McElveen, Marsha and Angel LeBron. She had 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her sisters Mary Odelia McNair, Carol Barksdale, Livisa Lunsford (sister-in law), and Valarie Lunsford (sister in-law). She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.

Along with her parents and grandparents, Marilyn is predeceased by her son, William “Bill” Chinnis; grandchildren, Nyisha Smith, Anigel and Angel III LeBron; brothers Samuel Lunsford III, Richard (Kathy) Lunsford, Marvin Lunsford, Berkley Lunsford, and James (Marie) Lunsford; sisters Ann Carlton, Dolores and (brother-in Law) Lewis Swain, and Martha Jean Vereen.

Her Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon, 50 Liberty Street, Beacon; where a Home-Going Service will be offered 12Noon followed by interment in the Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill, NY.
