Sybilla Thompson

Thompson, Sybilla of Beacon, entered into rest Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 81. Born September 5, 1935 in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Jane Banister Carter. Sybilla was the widow of the late Thomas Thompson Sr. She was a retired Operator for AT&T, and retired Dispatcher for Joan’s Taxi, Beacon. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and was Baptized in 1993. Survivors include. three daughters, Leatrice Huggins of Beacon, Rebecca and her husband James H. Brown III of Beacon and Priscilla Thompson of Beacon, two brothers, Issichar Yacab of Beacon, and Beverly Carter of Ohio, two sisters, Jane Winchester of Port Chester, NY., and Susie Freeman of Wappingers Falls, her grandchildren, Yvonne, Shontalea, Shakera, Jeffrey Jr., Cassandra, Israel, Frank Jr., Destiny, Angela, Mark, Dominique and Wesly, as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by, three sons, Thomas Thompson Jr., Jeffrey Thompson Sr. and Franklin Thompson Sr., granddaughter, Michelle Thompson, two brothers, George Carter, and Nathaniel Carter Jr., three sisters, Gloria Carter, Isabelle Potter and Elizabeth White. Visitation will be held, Thursday June 15, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Springfield Baptist Church 8 Mattie Cooper Sq. Beacon, followed by services at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Beacon, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to American Cancer Society 45 Reade Pl Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-3947 or Miles of Hope PO Box 405, Lagrangeville, NY 12540 as well as to the family at Priscilla Thompson PO Box 687 Beacon, NY 12508.
